Good News on Renewable Energy in East Africa

Renewable energy is the only solution for Africa. Two reports published last week confirms that this green industry is booming in East Africa. Ethiopia plans for new five wind farms four-year project with 5,200 megawatts from wind power at cost $3.1 billion. Ethiopia is a good model for wind energy, the turbine of Ashegoda, a $300 million wind farm project in was the largest wind farm in sub-Saharan Africa when it was inaugurated in 2013. In Uganda, the central district of Soroti is witnessing with the launch of East Africa’s largest solar power plant. The $19 million project covers 33 hectares and will produce 20 gigawatt hours of electricity annually.
