IGAD calls for immediate ceasefire in Ethiopia

IGAD, Djibouti: November 4, 2021
The Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Dr Workneh Gebeyehu, is following with a lot of concern the heightened political situation in the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
Recalling the IGAD statement of November 7, 2020, the Executive Secretary reiterates his call for the cessation of hostilities and for immediate ceasefire.
Dr Workneh further calls for the parties to show restraint, work on de-escalating the tensions and resolve their differences through an all-inclusive national dialogue and reconciliation in the best interest of the country and the region
